HUNGER PAINS

I poured my novel with the cereal box cover
Into a bowl this morning,
Spilled in some milk,
Sprinkled sugar,
And ate it.
By ten o’clock,
I was hungry again,
So I bought a newspaper,
And gobbled that too.
At lunch, someone had a
Magazine, and I asked for
A slice or two.
By the afternoon, the hunger
Pains were unbearable,
I was starving,
I didn’t know what to do.
The bookstores had lines
Out the doors,
What? No reservation?
And the library was closed.
Then I went home,
Checked the mail:
Bills, fliers, more magazines,
No letter from you.
“I poured my novel with the cereal box cover”
Love that.
