WHAT ARE WE GOING TO WATCH ON TV?

What would control mean
in that living room scene
howl-scREAMing sobbing
fists flying hands flap slapping
hair pulling whining
while Momma’s
out to the store for more
milk and bread and beans
(and there’s a good kick to the shin)
and after that
Momma sitting with the week’s laundry
at the coin-op for a couple of loads
with her TV guide
would it mean we’d all sit tidy
like birds
on the couch and agree on
one show and
the antenna would focus it sharp
and fine
with no snow
and we’d fold our hands
and sit quiet like
until Momma came home?
