AMBITION

The trees reach to
Scratch the sky
Itching with clouds
To rain or snow.

But this oak,
Broken like a nail bitten
To the root, struck
By lightening, then wind
And rot,
Aspires no higher than the stone wall,
Save for her acorns thrown free.

    Thought-provoking.

Disillusionment can be contagious as such. It bodes well then for ambition to settle solid in a young spirit — to grow roots there, so to speak.

    Thank you for sharing. Cheers.
