January’s Mail

today’s mail heavy with
catalogs
bank statements
Xeroxed rejection letters
skids across the kitchen table
as I drop it
it was fun getting Christmas
cards last month
with hand-written notes
—well, some were printed on
computers—
but today the cards came down
and the walls are bare
tomorrow’s mail
more of the same coming

i like the realism explored in this poem. that’s life, isn’t it?

pretty much the same stuff in my mailbox (the snail mail one). bills, bank statements, ads… 🙂
